Admissions

These first years of education, we believe, are vital to develop that love of learning.

Our aim is to immerse the children in a curriculum that is exciting, creative and relevant. We teach children the skills of early Reading, Writing and Maths to a high standard through a range of engaging topics. At our school we place a strong emphasis on cross curricular opportunities and feel passionately about the use of outdoor learning to provide an enriched curriculum for the children.

We believe our greatest asset is our children and we are proud of their many achievements and their personal growth. Our pupils develop into responsible, happy and confident young people. Through the high quality of education, they receive and the support and care from home and school working together, they have the best life chances possible.

Starting in Reception

Parents do not have to send their child to school until the term following their child’s 5th birthday. However, most Portsmouth community and controlled infant and primary schools admit Year R pupils before the end of September, in the year in which the child has his/her 5th birthday. At Moorings Way, we believe that a September start for all children enables strong relationships and supports us as practitioners, to meet the needs of every child. The school year starts on 1st September and ends 31st August.

At Moorings Way our policy is to offer children whole day sessions from the September they join, although there is a slightly staggered entry in the first week to allow them to experience lunch times and new experiences.
